The girl felt a jolt through her after hearing Polar’s words. She entered a state of shock. Father… isn’t returning?

Although Polar had said that it would only be temporary, the girl knew that things were not that simple.

“Patriarch… I…”

“Ling’er, cultivate well and don’t be too sad. Perhaps, your father will return safe and sound ten years from now…”

Polar could not bear the pain and the only thing he could do was console the girl. Even though he knew very well that with the Ancestor God’s temperament, he would very likely make Ling’er’s father into a vessel to nurture demonic servants.

Ancestor God was cruel and ruthless, or it could be said that he showed no concern for life. To the Ancestor God, all the lives he met were no different from rocks or dust. Would an alchemist care if ores felt pain when throwing them into a refinement cauldron?

Ancestor God viewed life in the same way.

“Even Martial Uncle isn’t back…” someone in the crowd commented.

The Heavenly Courts had lost two of their youngest, most promising Godly Monarchs on this trip to the Ancestor God’s palace.

Instantly, the atmosphere in the Heavenly Courts turned silent. The two patriarchs did not say a word and simply walked off and flew towards their personal palaces.

“Senior Brother, do you really want to tamper with the array?”

War Excellency Sky Punishment suddenly asked while flying. Previously in the Ancestor God’s palace, Polar had suggested that everyone joined forces to resist the Ancestor God. Now that they were back in the Heavenly Courts, Polar had steeled his resolve after seeing the looks of Ling’er and his young disciples.

Polar and Sky Punishment had known each other for too long. Although Polar did not say it out loud, Sky Punishment had sensed it.

However, tampering with the Ancestor God’s array was extremely dangerous. Even if they succeeded, death was certain. And what Polar wanted to do could only delay the Ancestor God’s devouring of the Heavenly Dao instead of stopping him.

“Junior Brother, I’ve already lived to a ripe old age. I think it’s enough. I do not wish to live such an abject life and personally destroy the future of martial arts in the Chaos Heavens…” Polar sighed and shook his head. “I’m afraid my two disciples will never return…”

“Senior Brother, do you know that the entire Heavenly Courts might be embroiled in this if we were to destroy the Ancestor God’s plans. It will be destroyed by the Ancestor God’s anger! We humans might end up extinct! Without the Heavenly Courts, humanity will lose its standing in the Chaos Heavens. Even annihilation of our race is possible.

“Besides, are you really confident you can destroy the Ancestor God’s array?”

Polar fell silent when he heard Sky Punishment. The Ancestor God had naturally left behind certain contingencies by spending that much effort and resources to set up the Chaos Heavens array. Destroying it was obviously not going to be easy.

Perhaps, his plan might be discovered by the Ancestor God midway, and eventually fall short of success.

Polar considered for quite some time as he opened the isolation array in a chamber. Then, he took out an ancient interspatial ring and said with a voice transmission, “Junior Brother… with things developing to this point, there are certain things I need to tell you. Back when Human Emperor Senior Lin Ming came to the Chaos Heavens, I got to acquaint myself with him. I helped him do certain things and received his kindness. Senior Lin was human after all. Although he did not interfere in matters regarding the Chaos Heavens, he still left with me an item that could secure the light that shines on humanity from providence before leaving. All these years, I have yet to use it, but perhaps, it’s time to use it…”

“Oh?” Sky Punishment was taken aback. “Something Human Emperor Senior Lin left behind!?”

Human Emperor had long left the Chaos Heavens by the time Sky Punishment was born. All he knew was legends regarding the Human Emperor and he was acutely aware how powerful the Human Emperor was.

The value of something that he left behind to secure humanity’s fate was obvious.

It was something that allowed the Heavenly Courts to secure its standing.

“Senior Brother, can the item you mention be used against the Ancestor God?”

“It would be hard, but there’s hope…” Polar said as his heart palpitated. He flipped his hand and the ring vanished.

He had sensed the aura of a stranger.

The aura was still very far from the Heavenly Courts, but it was abnormally powerful.

Polar released his perception outwards to sweep over the newcomer, but he failed to find the person.

This tightened Polar’s heart. Who could it be?

A few seconds later, a faint figure appeared in Polar’s and Sky Punishment’s chamber like a ghost.

It was a black-robed youth with brows as sharp as swords. His aura was converged, and although they knew his strength was already unfathomable, they were still unable to tell just how powerful he was.

Yi Yun!

Polar immediately knew the identity of the man without even needing to think.

Such a young human with such immense strength could not be anyone but Yi Yun.

However, Polar never expected Yi Yun to infiltrate their chamber without anyone realizing it. After all, the chamber was isolated by an array!

For him to achieve that, how deep did his nomological insight go?

Yi Yun seemed to know what Polar was alarmed about. He smiled and said, “You must be Senior Polar, am I right? Senior, I happened to encounter the array you set up in the past. Although it has been modified, it’s fundamentally the same.”

Yi Yun had read records of Polar’s array formation in the notes left behind by Human Emperor. Back then, Human Emperor had left behind some of his heritage in the Heavenly Courts, so Polar was considered half a disciple of Human Emperor.

“This…” Polar was taken aback. From the looks of it, Yi Yun had deep ties with the Human Emperor as well.

“I apologize, Senior Polar. Although I’ve heard how righteous and noble you are, when faced with the dangers posed by the Ancestor God, numerous Godly Monarchs in the Chaos Heavens have submitted to him. I naturally wouldn’t dare show myself in front of Godly Monarchs, so I have been hiding in the Heavenly Courts to secretly observe. However, when you took out the ring…”

Yi Yun had been in the Heavenly Courts for a few days, and he had witnessed the entire conversation between Polar and Sky Punishment.

Although they were using Yuan Qi to communicate, he could tell from their expressions. Furthermore, Polar had taken out the ring allowing Yi Yun to tell that the both of them were truly determined to resist the Ancestor God. At the very least, they had not become the Ancestor God’s minions.

And although Yi Yun wasn’t aware of the ring’s origins, he could sense the aura contained within it.

It was the Human Emperor’s aura with unprecedented intensity.

And it was because of this item that Yi Yun had chosen to show himself.

He alone was unable to resist the Ancestor God. He needed to gather all the forces that could be gathered.

Upon hearing Yi Yun mention the ring, Polar’s heart tightened. It was essential to the Heavenly Courts, fundamental to all humanity!

Now that it had caught the interest of someone stronger than him, he could not help but turn nervous.

“Senior, do you still have scruples towards my allegiance in the matter? I’ll be the last person the Ancestor God will ever pardon. That’s because he ultimately views me as a threat.”

Yi Yun spoke very frankly. Anyone in the Chaos Heavens could be used as a double agent to spy on an anti-Ancestor God alliance except Yi Yun.

Polar took a deep breath and took out the simple ring again. “The ring is here. What do you have in mind?”
