Chapter 520 b.l.o.o.d.y Battle between Sects

“Kill!”

“Defend the Sect!”

“You have to step over our dead bodies if you want to pa.s.s!”

In the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Mountain Range, on a mountain platform less than six kilometers away from the first stairway of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect, the killing sounds reached the heavens. The Qi power and the inscription power surged wildly. Bones were piling like mountains, blood flowed like rivers, broken limbs were flying in all directions, and screams were heard all over the battlefield.

A life-and-death battle was taking place.

Figures flashed.

Hundreds of disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect—dressed in white and golden swordsman uniforms with soft armor on top—held long swords in their hands. They shouted to fight to death. Although they were injured all over and were almost exhausted, they were still stuck in the formation and refused to take a step back.

The opposite force was made up of dozens of sects and forces in Snow Province; their numbers were dozens of times more than those of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect.

The battle had lasted for more than six hours, having begun at midnight from the night before.

That was the first barrier protecting the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect. It was called the Sword Gate, three or four kilometers away from the Sword-cleansing Pond at the foot of the mountain, the first level of the mountain-protecting formation.

After thousands of years of acc.u.mulation and good management, the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect had set up a large number of killing formations. It was easy to defend but difficult to attack. The light s.h.i.+eld protected the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect’s disciples. At such a critical moment, more than two hundred inner disciples were guarding the pa.s.s. The guarding master in charge was w.a.n.g Juefeng, the cynical man.

Enemies charged toward them like a tidal wave for twelve hours.

An opposite master made a small breach in the inscription formation and entered it.

During such a fierce fight, the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect had already lost 70 or 80 of their elite disciples.

Even w.a.n.g Juefeng, an innate master, had scars all over his body.

In fact, if w.a.n.g Juefeng had not withstood most of the other side’s masters by himself in the uphill battle, the pa.s.s would have been broken through long before.

Although the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect had been dispatching masters continuously, more enemies kept coming.

That pa.s.s became a life millstone.

During those twelve hours, in addition to the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect’s disciples, at least thousands of people had perished there.

Blood flowed along the mountain road. The blood was spilled on the ground, dyeing the rocks and snow red. Torn limbs were seen everywhere. The warriors looked ferocious. Some of them were seriously injured and could not be cured, but they were still screaming and twitching, struggling like wounded beasts…

The place had become a shura h.e.l.l.

Fortunately, the masters on both sides didn’t take part in the battle.

It was an early probing. Obviously, the forces behind the Tranquility Academy wanted to exhaust the effective forces of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect with a ma.s.sive-crowd strategy, while quietly waiting for the time to launch a final attack.

According to the fight progress and communications, the masters from the super sects of the other major provinces in the Northern Region would not appear.

This gave a glimmer of hope to the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect.

“Kill!”

w.a.n.g Juefeng struck out with his sword.

The sword light surged and cut three enemies at the Inborn Martial Grandmaster Realm into two parts.

In the past twelve hours, no one knew how many times he had struck with his sword. His arms were swollen and numb, the Qi in his body was on the brink of exhaustion and his meridians were in pain. However, the enemies kept surrounding him, so he had to clench his teeth and hold on.

How long could such a battle last?

What would be the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect’s fate?

He didn’t even want to think about it.

He had no time to think about it.

w.a.n.g Juefeng believed firmly that as long as he killed one more enemy, the haze over the Sect might be reduced a little.

He was already drenched in blood.

The blood was both his own and his enemy’s.

“Boom! Boom! Boom!”

There was a series of explosions.

The inscription formation not far away was breaking and losing its efficacy.

The light s.h.i.+eld that had been flas.h.i.+ng to block more enemies from invading was also breaking down little by little. Not only a few breaches were made, but the formations were all broken. The underground inscription formation and the ones laid in the rocks were destroyed, the effect was gradually fading.

“We must retreat. Without the blessing and obstruction cast by the inscription formation, a large number of enemies can appear at the same time without any hindrance. They will wipe us out with their numbers!”

However, if they retreated, the Sword Gate would be completely lost.

As a result, there would be less than six gates left for the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect. If one gate was lost, they would be much closer.

“Buzz!”

A loud bell sounded from the mountain gate far away.

That was the Sect’s retreat signal.

“Retreat!”

w.a.n.g Juefeng no longer hesitated.

He shouted and waved his long sword, signaling for the Sect’s disciples to retreat immediately, while he stayed behind to block attacks.

The methodology used for training disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect had always insisted on using what was effective at the moment. More than a hundred injured disciples, although defeated, still made their retreat in an orderly manner. They didn’t seem to be in a mess at all. They walked slowly and didn’t give the enemy any chances to fight back.

“Swoos.h.!.+ Swoos.h.!.+ Swoos.h.!.+ Swoos.h.!.+”

The sword light was like a flash of lightning.

w.a.n.g Juefeng stirred the last Qi in his body to block the dozens of enemy masters.

Right at that moment…

Laughter was heard. “Hahaha, w.a.n.g Juefeng, the Young Poison Master from the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect, you really live up to your reputation. You’re so brave, even at the end of your rope! Let me fight with you!”

More than a dozen dark and foul smelling streamers suddenly appeared, rus.h.i.+ng toward w.a.n.g Juefeng.

It was the hidden weapon of the Falling Star Sect.

It was a master.

w.a.n.g Juefeng felt a chill in his heart, and his sword moves became more urgent. Ding-ding-ding sounds revealed how several red lights were bounced off.

However, the fierce and extended fighting still made him overwork; his reaction ability had been greatly reduced. He couldn’t block all the attacks made with hidden weapons as he easily could in other conditions. Two dark lights were able to hit him through the sword light. w.a.n.g Juefeng only felt that his chest and arm became numb, and then he felt a sharp pain.

A ghost-like figure, as fast as lightning, showed up in the distance. It jumped out of the crowd, and quickly approached w.a.n.g Juefeng.

A storm of countless hidden weapons emerged from the figure, pouring down on w.a.n.g Juefeng.

w.a.n.g Juefeng resisted with his sword.

A teasing voice said, “Hahaha, I heard that there are eight gates in the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect, claimed to be impregnable. Now it seems that they are just so-so. I’ll make you lose more than a hundred masters and one or two super masters in each gate. Your strength will be consumed little by little. After the eight gates are conquered, I’m afraid that only the two geezers, Li Jianyi and Qi Qingshan, will be left in the whole Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect!”

The ghost-like figure reached w.a.n.g Juefeng and threw a punch with a barbed metal boxing glove.

“Poof…” w.a.n.g Juefeng blocked it with his long sword. He was shocked because the attack made him flung him back and blood was spurting out of his mouth.

He was already on the verge of exhaustion. He had been hit by a hidden weapon. The toxin exploded in his body, making him gradually lose control of it. Unexpectedly, the strike was not completely blocked.

“Haha, my reputation will definitely soar if I can kill the Young Poison Master!” As soon as the ghost-like figure stopped, revealing a red face full of b.u.mps, which seemed like the surface of a ball.

It was an a.s.sa.s.sination master of the Falling Star Sect.

A pair of scarlet eyes sparkled with excitement. Dressed in tight black clothes and wearing a pair of metal gloves, he stared at w.a.n.g Juefeng like a dog staring at its prey. The man smiled and said, “You’ve been poisoned by my Puppet Poison. Do you feel how your right hand is gradually out of your control?”

“Hehe, the Falling Star Sect is indeed filled by a group of scoundrels. I can kill people like you, Magic Killing Fist Tian Kan, with one hand!” w.a.n.g Juefeng recognized the attacker. He was an a.s.sa.s.sination master of the Falling Star Sect, who was at the Half-Step Martial King realm. His methods were insidious. In the battle at the Heavenly Valley, he killed Ma Yifei by resorting to a sneak attack.

As the saying goes, enemies see red the moment they meet.

w.a.n.g Juefeng sneered and changed the long sword to his left hand.

“Is that so? A trapped beast struggling on the verge of death. Let’s have a try, haha…” Tian Kan laughed wildly.

The battle began in the blink of an eye.

w.a.n.g Juefeng was indeed a martial arts genius. Otherwise, it would have been impossible for him to be accepted as an apprentice by the old monster, Qi Qingshan, among so many disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect. Unfortunately, after a night of hard fighting, he had indeed reached the point of exhaustion. Not to mention that his Qi was exhausted, the Puppet Poison began to take effect.

After the venom had spread through his body, it made his limbs stiff and his reactions slower. Like a puppet without a string, he gradually lost the ability to fight back.

“Hahaha, you’re too slow… Young Poison Master, your reaction is too slow!”

Magic Killing Fist Tian Kan burst out laughing.

His pair of poisonous gloves were as fast as lightning; he kept hitting w.a.n.g Juefeng, making strange whistling sounds. w.a.n.g Juefeng could only block with his long sword, but he gradually found it difficult to keep up with his opponent’s boxing speed. The strength in his body was exhausted, and he was constantly knocked back, with blood gus.h.i.+ng out of his wounds like springs.

The feeling of bullying a strong person was extremely satisfying.

Expressionlessly, w.a.n.g Juefeng made his final resistance.

There were fewer companions around him, and the Invaders swarmed toward him like a tide.

“Haha, you’re known as the Young Poison Master, but you’re destined to die by my poison today. It is G.o.d’s will!” Tian Kan became prouder, constantly stimulating his opponent. As he moved, various kinds of fine hidden weapons were secretly shot out. No one knew how many hidden weapons he had on him.

In the twinkling of an eye, w.a.n.g Juefeng had been hit by several hidden weapons once again.

His situation was getting worse.

The Sword Gate had completely fallen into the enemy’s hands.

Most of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect’s disciples had already withdrawn. The warriors from other forces in Snow Province were flocking there, surrounding the key terrain points like a tide. w.a.n.g Juefeng was completely surrounded. It was impossible for him to escape in his current state.

“Martial Uncle w.a.n.g, don’t fight with them. Let’s go!”

“We can’t retreat. Uncle w.a.n.g is still in the back and has yet to come out!”

A disciple of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect shouted from a distance, “The disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect are not cowards. Brothers, let’s go back. If we can’t save Martial Uncle w.a.n.g, we will die with him and be faithful to the Sect!”

Seeing that w.a.n.g Juefeng was surrounded, some disciples who had already left the battlefield decided to return.

They wanted to get him out of there.

In the battle the night before, w.a.n.g Juefeng took the lead in charge since he was the guardian of the Sword Gate. He killed countless enemies and saved the lives of countless disciples of his Sect. He had long won the respect of the inner disciples. Those disciples who had been saved by him rushed back crazily when they saw he was in danger.

w.a.n.g Juefeng shouted in shock and anger, “Don’t come back! Get out of here!”

Those disciples had long been physically and mentally exhausted, and the inscription formation at the Sword Gate had been destroyed. It was difficult to stop the enemy at this point; they would die if they turned back. Sacrificing themselves would make no difference.

“Hehe, what a touching scene!”

Magic Killing Fist laughed loudly.

He had a sinister and mocking look.

The steel gloves glimmered as the dark fist prints fell like a storm, making whistling noises. At the same time, Tian Kan shouted at the surrounding people, “Don’t intervene. I will kill the Young Poison Master myself. I’ll order people to set up a formation in the distance and then open a breach to let those stupid disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect come in. Haha, I’ll wrap them all up and kill them all!”

w.a.n.g Juefeng’s face changed.

Tian Kan wanted to use him as bait to capture and kill the Sect’s disciples.

It seemed that he couldn’t delay anymore.

With that thought in mind, w.a.n.g Juefeng shouted loudly.

The long sword’s light in his hand rose sharply with a silvery color. A powerful strength forced Tian Kan to retreat. At that moment, w.a.n.g Juefeng raised his hand and swallowed a green elixir pill. The pill power instantly melted in his body like a warm current. At that moment, his Qi and flame were surging. He had regained his peak combat strength.

“How is that possible?” Tian Kan’s expression changed. He instinctively felt that something was wrong.

“Go to h.e.l.l!” w.a.n.g Juefeng did not give him any chances. The long sword’s light in his hand surged, instantly surging with the strongest brilliance. Even the void of dawn was cut by the sword light, and wherever it pa.s.sed, everything was destroyed.

Magic Killing Fist Tian Kan’s head flew up into the sky, and blood was gus.h.i.+ng like a fountain.

There was still an expression of disbelief on his face.

There were pills that could restore the strength in an instant, but they were too precious. It was said that only alchemists above the sixth level could refine the pill. For example, in Snow Province, such a treasure might only be in the hands of giants like the chiefs of the Tranquility Academy and the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect; it shouldn’t have appeared in w.a.n.g Juefeng’s hands.

“Why did it happen?”

He didn’t know that, while he was scheming against w.a.n.g Juefeng, the cynical man was also scheming against him.

Originally, w.a.n.g Juefeng wanted to lure more strong people like Tian Kan show up before using the Heaven Heart Vitality Pill that Ding Hao had given him to kill them in an instant. It was also an attempt to reduce the enemy numbers. However, it was unexpected that Tian Kan had evil intentions and wanted to court death. He wanted to use w.a.n.g Juefeng as a bait to lure other ordinary disciples of the Swordsmans.h.i.+p-seeking Sect to die.

In order to avoid the death of innocent disciples of his Sect, w.a.n.g Juefeng had to launch an attack in advance.

“Retreat!”

After a successful strike, w.a.n.g Juefeng flashed and retreated.

The sword light was dancing in various colors, like a silver snake.

w.a.n.g Juefeng, who had regained his strength, stood tall; none of his opponents were his match. With a flash of sword light, a crack of flesh and bones was created in the surrounding invaders. Wherever the sword pa.s.sed, the rival martial artists fell to the ground like wheat facing a farmer’s sickle.

After a few ups and downs, he moved closer to his fellow disciples and shouted, “Retreat! Don’t make unnecessary sacrifices!”

The crowd was overjoyed by his sudden reversal. The disciples stopped rus.h.i.+ng and slowly retreated.

w.a.n.g Juefeng’s face was solemn. He was still the last and he covered the retreat.

Just as they were about to retreat successfully, a sudden change happened—
