Chapter 1091: Asgor

Soon, a Minotaur that was nearly 10 meters tall and was riding a double-headed Manticore appeared in front of Lin Li and the others. That Minotaur had power that was at the peak of the Sanctuary-realm, and was much bigger than the one Lin Li had seen in the Eternal Darkness Altar in the past. It was probably much stronger than the Dragon of Evilness, Nefa. Besides, the double-headed Manticore that the Minotaur was riding similarly had incredible power that was close to the Sanctuary-realm.

The combination of the Minotaur and the double-headed Manticore was definitely not something that anyone would dare to revoke easily, even in this Meditation Land that was full of Sanctuary-level magical beasts. That was also the reason Lin Li chose this place first. In his opinion, it should be the most likely place to set up a pa.s.sage.

In order to save time and deter other magical beasts, Lin Li immediately pointed the Helios’ Scepter forward without any hesitation or reservations. The light of the seven basic Laws immediately converged into a World Sword that cut through the s.p.a.ce and slashed towards the Minotaur.

The Minotaur had survived in that s.p.a.ce for thousands of years, and it had never seen anyone who dared to provoke it. When it saw Lin Li and the others attacking, the Minotaur flew into a rage, and swung the giant steel trident in its hand at the World Sword ferociously.

At the same time, the two-headed Manticore that the Minotaur was riding also opened its huge mouth while facing Lin Li and the others, spurting out brilliant but lethal rays of light. It was a two-headed Manticore that was close to the peak of the Sanctuary-realm, and the magic light emitted by it was several times more powerful than the cannons on the battles.h.i.+ps of the Gilded Kingdom.

However, in the face of the magic light emitted by the two-headed Manticore, Lin Li did not dodge at all. Instead, he opened his Domain World right away. When the magic light struck his Domain World, Lin Li’s World Sword clashed with the Minotaur’s steel trident.

With a violent roar, the steel trident in the Minotaur’s hand was broken by the World Sword, which then slashed the Minotaur’s head immediately. The only ones who could resist Lin Li’s World Sword were the Golden Behemoths and the ancient wyrms which were magical beasts that were known for their defense. Although the Minotaur was extremely strong, it obviously didn’t have the incredible defensive abilities of the Golden Behemoth.

Fortunately, the Minotaur reacted fast enough, and immediately spurred the two-headed Manticore to flee far away. However, the Minotaur was too careless after all, and after living comfortably for thousands of years, it seemed to have forgotten how to fight. Although the World Sword was in the shape of a sword, it was essentially still magic and an aggregate of nomological power. The blade was not the only thing that hurt.

Although the Minotaur managed to dodge the blade of the sword, it was still struck by the power of the World Sword, and its tall and large body was blasted away when it was riding on the mountain-like two-headed Manticore. Along the way, it bled so much like it was raining blood.

There were only two or three exchanges in this fight, but Connoris and the others didn’t have to step in to help at all. The Minotaur and the two-headed Manticore were destroyed by Lin Li’s World Sword. Two Sanctuary-level magical crystals landed directly in Lin Li’s hand as the World Sword disintegrated.

Even Connoris, who was watching at the side, couldn’t help but be dumbfounded, and he didn’t know whether he should say that the enemy was too weak, or that Lin Li was just too strong. Actually, the Minotaur wasn’t weak, as it also had the help of the two-headed Manticore. He could only say that Lin Li was too strong. He had yet to reach the peak of the Sanctuary-realm, and yet he could already be on par with the two-headed Manticore[1].

As for Ujfalusi and Norfeller, they also felt the huge gap between themselves and Lin Li, and thought that they probably would not be able to provide much help for Lin Li during the future battles if things continued to develop at that rate. That thought made them more and more eager to increase their abilities.

After finis.h.i.+ng off the Minotaur and the two-headed Manticore, Lin Li immediately took Connoris and the two Undead servants on a search in the den of the Minotaur. However, to Lin Li’s disappointment, he did not find any clues related to the pa.s.sage even after searching every corner of that maze-like den.

Nevertheless, Lin Li had long prepared for it. Since Geresco did not plan to show them the pa.s.sage, Lin Li definitely had to put in a lot of effort into finding it. Hence, after searching the Minotaur’s den in vain, Lin Li immediately took Connoris and the others towards the next target he had already chosen.

The Sanctuary-level magical beasts were indeed rather intelligent. The World Sword that Lin Li had just cast had resulted in a considerable deterrent effect on many magical beasts. As they flew all the way to their next target, the magical beasts they encountered along the way even escaped, and no one dared to come out to make trouble for them.

However, even then, Lin Li’s search was not smooth sailing at all. After searching the dens of a few Sanctuary-realm magical beasts, they still didn’t find any signs of the pa.s.sage, but the battles they encountered were far tougher than the ones in the beginning. Connoris and the two Undead servants began to join in the fights. After all, the Sanctuary-level magical beasts had already advanced beyond the realm of magical beasts. It was obvious if it was clever or cunning.

After a few intense battles, Lin Li gained a few more Sanctuary-level magical crystals, but he still had no clue about where the pa.s.sage was. Fortunately, it was Geresco’s Meditation Land, so the mana that Lin Li, Connoris, and the others consumed could be recovered quickly. Otherwise, they would have to return at this time.

At this time, Lin Li’s group was in a deep valley in the Meditation Land which was emitting a death aura, but it was devoid of any scent of decay. It seemed to be a pure aura of death. Following the aura that they detected with their mental strength, Lin Li and the others flew towards the depths of the valley.

If they still couldn’t find the pa.s.sage there, they would have to reconsider if the pa.s.sage even existed! Actually, Lin Li had thought about that more than once, but the strange thing about humans was that we would often have infinite “last tries”. They had already explored several such deep valleys, and Lin Li didn’t carry much hope this time, either.

All of a sudden, an incredibly powerful mental strength impact surged over from the deep valley towards Lin Li and the others. Even Lin Li who had a great mental strength couldn’t help but find it unbearable. On the other hand, Ujfalusi and Norfeller were directly blasted away by the pure mental strength. Connoris even froze on the spot as if he had momentarily lost control of his body amidst the impact of the Mental Blast.

Bearing with the headache, Lin Li frantically raised the Helios’ Scepter, and a light curtain was instantly erected in front of him. Under the impact of the Mental Blast, he could immediately see the layers of ripples that were stirred up on the light curtain, as if a ma.s.sive object was about to emerge from the water.

Upon sight of this, Lin Li couldn’t help but inhale sharply. Those below the Sanctuary-realm would probably have been blasted badly by the powerful Mental Blast.

Immediately afterwards, a hideous monster slowly crawled out from the deep valley. The monster had a lion-like head and a python-like body that was covered in obsidian-like scales. There were also thick limb-like extensions on both sides of the python. It began digging its sharp claws against the rock, leaving behind deep scratch marks as if it was cutting through tofu.

Seeing the appearance of this monster, Connoris, who had just regained control of his body, could not help but exclaim, “This is Asgor. Why is it here!?”

“Asgor?” The name that Connoris mentioned reminded Lin Li of a legendary myth in Anril.

Legend had it that the death G.o.d, who was in charge of the final destination of all living beings, was alienated by the other G.o.ds who feared him. Hence, he raised various terrifying creatures that were feared by many in his palace, the best of which was Asgor. Such monsters fed on the souls of the dead and possessed ma.s.sive Spiritual Force. It was even bestowed with the magic to manipulate death by the death G.o.d.

During the prehistoric times, Asgor might not have been the most powerful magical beast, but it was definitely the most horrifying. Asgor would kill everything in its path and leave behind a place of death that was devoid of vitality. Even the ancient wyrms and t.i.tans could not escape their fates of getting killed by Asgor.

Although that was only a myth and a legend, Lin Li could sense from the Mental Blast just now that even the Spiritual Force of the Lord of Souls in the abyss was far from being comparable to Asgor’s.

At this moment, Asgor had already stepped out of the shadows, and opened its b.l.o.o.d.y mouth while facing Lin Li and the others. It was as if it was roaring silently. An even more powerful Mental Blast was released, resulting in a noticeable distortion in s.p.a.ce. It suddenly collided with the curtain of light that Lin Li had erected. In an instant, the defensive curtain of light shattered with a loud bang, bursting like a bubble.

Before Lin Li could react, he felt as if he had been hit hard in the head by a hammer, or as if his soul was going to be shaken out of his body. Connoris and the two Undead servants had it worse. Connoris’s body did not actually belong to him in the first place, so the fusion of his soul and body was subpar. On the other hand, the Undead servants did not have much resistance against spiritual attacks.

[1] Either the author meant the Minotaur here, or the Manticore was also that strong.
